Installing

Before You Start

Mods are fun after they work. Two quick things save you hours later: make sure Java is working (Java Edition only) and back up your Minecraft stuff.

For Java Players

Fapcraft for Java needs, well, Java to run. If you already have it, great. If not, here’s what to do:

  1. Check if it’s installed:
Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac/Linux) and type: java -version If it throws an error, no worries—move to step two.

  2. Grab Java:
Download the latest version straight from Oracle’s site. It’s quick.

  3. Install and Restart:
Run the installer, click next a few times, and restart your PC.

  4. Double-check:
Run java -version again. If you see version info, you’re ready.

Backup Your Game (Seriously, Do It)

Mods can be unpredictable. You don’t want to lose your worlds, right? Here’s how to stay safe:

Find your game folder:

Windows: Win + R → paste %appdata%\.minecraft → Enter.
Mac: In Finder: GoGo to Folder… and paste ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft.
Linux: Usually ~/.minecraft.

Inside, copy these somewhere safe (Desktop, external drive, cloud—whatever you trust):

  • saves/ (your worlds)

  • resourcepacks/

  • screenshots/

  • options.txt (your video + keybind settings)

  • Any mods/ folder you care about

Name your backup something dated: mc_fapcraft_backup_2025-07-21.zip works great. Make it a habit—weekly if you mod a lot.
